The weirdest thing I’ve learned since removing corn from my daughter’s diet and more corn safe foods entering our household is that my daughter’s allergies match… me. Used to think I was dairy/wheat gluten and she was dairy/wheat gluten/corn.
Like, we removed all corn we found in our home from her diet and environment with a corn allergy support group’s recommendations and she’s back on the right track. So it’d be more accurate to say her food allergies are dairy/wheat&corn glutens.
Then she started reacting to many more things and we removed those — all corn derivatives (like citric acid) and byproducts (synthetics). To make our home safe, we just started filtering all of those items out of our grocery lists and eliminating them from our lives.
I started noticing my own body was happier with the removals for hers. Like, less bloating. Actually getting weight off. Here’s the kicker — removing all polyester has made my migraines I’ve had since 2009 stop.
In addition, cleaning up our home of corn derivatives had the added benefit of keeping my son Eo’s corn intolerance manageable before it became enough of a problem that I recognized the signs.
You might give this list of brands a whirl.

Thyroid/Neuroendocrine Support
This short list includes what I use for thyroid/neuroendocrine support. As with any other information on this website, I generally keep a rolling update for if I find something better to replace with, so if I find cleaner ingredients as I have for everything above this piece of this webpage, I’ll fix it — on that note, this short list is current as of 18 October 2021, and some of these brands are slightly, slightly less strict than the primary brands listed before this section because I’ve already spent over a year detoxing and working on vitamin and mineral support, which has resulted in an emptier bucket able to tolerate better. So please understand that I am aware that some have minimal corn derivatives involved(*), but I still hold as close to Aubby’s standard as possible. With some, though, I just could not find something available that met her standard exactly.
I have two photos that contain a number of supplements I use in my house. The first set is a few things I use specifically to support the body’s major detoxification pathways. The second set includes thee major things and cofactors being used for wellness support in my house with thyroid support highlighted. As above, the following affiliated links lead to the exact products my family uses.
The Oregon’s Wild Harvest brand Milk Thistle/Dandelion has a couple other things (burdock, artichoke) listed on the label, but that supports the liver. Pure Supplements brand Chanca Piedra is known as “stonebreaker” because it is supposed to target gall/kidney stones, and supports the kidneys. Finally, the ingredients in the Mary Ruth brand Lymphatic Cleanse supports the lymphatic system, which has the physiological task of flushing toxins and is a hugely major detox system present throughout the body and its organs. Skin is also associated with the lymphatic system, so is also associated with the kidneys.
The supplements in this photo include:
- Celtic grey sea salt
- Pure Body brand zeolite
- Mary Ruth brand lymphatic cleanse
- Seeking Health brand Vitamin D, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2)
- Pure Therapro Rx brand B12 (does not appear in correct bottle but I moved the label for my use, since I had to transfer content because plunger wasn’t working this time)
- Kappa brand magnesium
- Lugol’s 2% iodine/potassium iodide, and Ultra 6 Nutrition brand nascent iodine
- Ancestral Supplements (beef) bone (calcium with hydroxyapatite) (and possibly this brand’s dessicated thyroid/thymus – I haven’t tried it yet to know, but the book Stop The Thyroid Madness features dessicated thyroid)
- NOW brand melatonin
- Naturelo brand prenatal multivitamin (includes Aubby-friendly iodine and iron)
- Ecological Formulas brand Vitamin C
- Black Oxygen Organics brand fulvic minerals
- potassium gluconate* (this is store brand by Target because I needed it on hand for potassium deficiency; kiddo’s bucket is empty enough to accept it on this basis and I WILL upgrade quality to Thorne brand potassium citrate when we’re through with it)
It’s a lot, but cofactors/binders are important. I’m not going to get into the fine detail of this set of supplements except to say that iodine feels best taken at the same time as electrolytes, but it will be described in my upcoming memoir (anticipated release date should be sometime Summer-Fall 2022).
